Christian Distinctiveness
"God has given you gifts. Use them well to serve one another." Peter 4:10
Our Parish Vicar - Reverend Joanna Fielding.
All aspects of our school life are guided by our Christian Vision, theologically rooted in the life of Peter:
"Just as God has created every individual with unique talents and skills, our school community provides a nurturing and inclusive environment, where everyone is encouraged to explore their individual creativity and to confidently use their talents in order to achieve their God given potential and to make the world a better place."
Which is supported by our Values of:
Caring, Honesty, Perseverance, Respect and Responsibility.
Each term, we hold a special tea party as a celebration for children who have demonstrated our Vision and Values. We also give weekly certificates during our Pat on the Back assemblies. Every day, we join together as a school for an act of Collective Worship in which we discuss the teachings of Jesus, tell Bible stories, sing songs of praise and reflect on how our school Vision can guide our lives.
The areas of reflection in our classrooms help children to develop their spirituality and consider how they can live their lives guided by the teachings of Jesus. We take some of the ideas discussed in Collective Worship back to our classrooms to consider them further.
We have special links with St Michael's Church in South Littleton and the new Parish Vicar, Reverend Joanna Baxter Fielding. We visit the church regularly for special services - here is the link to St Michael's Church: www.southlittletonchurch.co.uk. Our local Church community supports us every week with Open the Book worship, which our children get heavily involved with.
We work closely with the Diocese of Worcester and the other DoWMAT schools for support, including with training and sharing good practice.
We also support local and national charities, including Caring Hands http://www.chands.org.uk/ and the Christmas Shoebox Appeal https://teams4u.com/ . Each year, our School Council chooses a charity to support. We give 10% of all of our annual fundraising money to this chosen charity. Last year we supported 'Young at Heart', who have worked with some of our school families.
